Apples are the edible fruits of the apple tree. They are characterized by their characteristic spherical shape and sweet-sour, juicy flesh hidden beneath a thin, smooth skin.
Although apple trees seem to be an eternal element of the Polish landscape, the Middle East is probably the cradle of this majestic tree, and we know from the chronicles of Jan Długosz that their cultivation in our lands began only in the 12th century thanks to the Cistercians.
Apples are one of the most popular fruits both in Poland and worldwide, but even as such, they don't always receive the recognition they deserve. These unassuming fruits are characterized by a significant content of vitamins A, B6, C, E, K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and folic acid, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and zinc. For this reason, their inclusion in the diet is recommended for almost everyone. It's worth remembering to eat them with the skin, as the skin contains a lot of fiber, which has a positive effect on intestinal peristalsis.
Apples are most often eaten raw and pure, as a snack between meals, but they are also suitable as a side dish, for dessert or to vary the taste of meat.
The apple is a fruit that has become ingrained in culture like no other. This small, spherical delicacy appears to be partly responsible for the Trojan War and the expulsion of humanity from Paradise, but we also owe it the representation of the magnitude of the atom and the law of universal gravitation. Thus, the apple is a symbol of temptation and sin, but also of splendor and progress.
