Chocolate in its simplest form is a confectionery product, consisting of cocoa mass and cocoa butter or other vegetable fat. This exceptionally tasty sweet originates from a traditional Maya drink called Xococalit, which can be translated as bitter water and is prepared from ground cocoa beans, honey, chili, and corn.
The cocoa contained in chocolate is rich in vitamins – A, B, C, E – and minerals – magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, and copper. High-quality chocolate not only improves well-being and provides energy but can also lower bad cholesterol and influence the proper functioning of the circulatory system. Furthermore, chocolate is the least harmful of all sweets for teeth and, without sugar, can even have a positive effect on dental health.
