The preparation contains folate in the form of calcium L-methylfolate (Metafolin®). Metafolin® is a form of folic acid that is bioequivalent to that found under natural conditions. Calcium L-methylfolate is the predominant form of folate in food. Metafolin® shows good bioavailability and physiological activity. It is also a very effective form for people suffering from the so-called MTHF polymorphism, which prevents the body from converting folic acid properly.
