  • Prevents insect infestation

Borax is one of the most effective cleaning agents and also helps prevent insect infestations.

It is a natural mineral and its full name is sodium tetraborate. Because it is not harmful to the environment and thanks to its properties helps to remove various types of dirt and stains, borax is widely used in households to make cleaning products.

Borax is made by evaporating salt water and is also naturally present in countries like the United States, Turkey, and Romania.

Although not considered toxic in small amounts, it has been shown to cause skin allergies if certain precautions are not taken when handling this material.

Borax is a 100% natural, odorless mineral classified in the crystallographic class as monoclinic prismatic, gray, white, yellow, green, or colorless. Discovered 4,000 years ago, the crystal mineral was used in ancient times in both China and Egypt to create mercy or embalming mummies. It was first described in 1748 by the well-known mineralogist Johan Guttschalk Wallerius. The name borax comes from Arabic (Bauraq means white).

Borax in its normal form is not acutely toxic, meaning a large amount would have to be inhaled or ingested to produce health effects. When it comes to pesticides, it's one of the safest chemicals out there. A 2006 US Environmental Protection Agency review of the chemical found no evidence of toxicity from exposure or evidence of cytotoxicity in humans.

Wearing protective clothing while using borax can reduce health risks. If you regularly come into contact with products containing borax, here are some safety tips:

  • Wear rubber gloves when working with cleaning products
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose and mouth li>
  • Cover wounds before contact with borax products
  • Keep this product out of the reach of children and pets
  • Avoid inhaling the powder
  • Wash areas with borax that have come into contact with skin

Just because borax is natural doesn't mean it's safe to use frequently. Borax consumption or frequent exposure to borax has many side effects and can lead to borax poisoning. The risk to children and pets who accidentally inhale or ingest borax is high.

Useful information:

One of the main Borax production areas is Lake Searles Valley, California, USA.

Historically, borax was first mined by John Searles in 1873.

Searles Valley Minerals (SVM) from the USA is a producer that produces borax from this lake in Searles Valley.

Application example:

  • insect repellent

Borax generally repels roaches, bed bugs, ants, and other insects that inhabit the home.

You can spray borax on kitchens, under door cracks, basements, and other areas prone to bugs.

  • To combat mold

To combat mold, make a thick paste of water and borax. It is spread on the moldy surface and left for 12-24 hours. The dry paste is removed with a brush and the residue washed off with water. This product is only suitable for relatively waterproof surfaces.

Granulat ähnlich

Das Natrium... ist nicht ganz ein Pulver , eher wie feiner Quarzsand , lässt sich aber in Wasser lösen...
Richtiges Pulver hätte ich lieber bekommen
