Baking soda, which is used in baking, is also useful for removing odors and cleaning the kitchen . It has become popular with housewives because it is less polluting than traditional cleaning chemicals.
Sodium bicarbonate is a mild, low-alkaline natural mineral found in mineral deposits in the sea or soil and in living organisms.
abrasive effect
This is possible due to the physical properties of elastic crystals. Mixing baking soda with a small amount of water (soda is water soluble) softens the edges of baking soda crystals, melts them and removes only impurities, protecting the surface of the polished object from damage.
Alkaline neutralization
Heavy soiling or oils are made up of an acidic substance called a fatty acid, which is neutralized by slightly alkaline baking soda. The way of neutralizing and neutralizing acids and keeping the pH constant plays an important role in various aspects of life, in addition to purification. It suppresses unpleasant odors from sinks or prevents water quality deterioration in tanks and neutralizes acids that cause pain and itching after insect bites. Because sodium bicarbonate is weakly alkaline, most of the time it neutralizes acidic substances, creating water and carbon dioxide while converting other substances into water-soluble salts. So that dirt is easily removed.
softening effect
Baking soda softens the water by picking up metal ions like calcium and magnesium when dissolved. Such soft water made of baking soda has a great effect. After the baking soda dissolves in the bath water, it becomes soft enough not to irritate the skin. Soaking in water with soda increases the carbonating effects of baking soda, which improves circulation and whets the appetite for hot days. The water in which baking soda is dissolved contains a lot of sodium, thanks to which it has a strong cleansing effect and easily moisturizes the skin, absorbs dirt.
deodorization p >
Chemically cleaned baking soda neutralizes unpleasant odors. Most odors are acidic, and baking soda, which is slightly alkaline, can help you get rid of them. Baking soda absorbs and removes unpleasant odors, while general air fresheners mask unpleasant odors with stronger smells. Additionally, it has the ability to absorb alkaline odors by reacting with ammonia or certain amino acids, making it effective for a variety of odors such as rotting food waste, urine, fishy odor, body odor and bad breath. Baking soda is highly hygroscopic and will absorb moisture while absorbing odors, so it pays to store it in a damp cupboard.
Examples of using baking soda:
Burnt-in stains from pots or pans
Pour water over the burned portion of the pot or pan, add a handful of baking soda, and bring to a boil. Leave it as is for one night, then gently rub with a sponge and rinse. However, be careful with aluminum dishes as they can turn black.
Clean a sink or gas stove
As mentioned in the text above, baking soda particles are very soft, so they won't get scratched even when used on a sink or gas stove. Sprinkle baking soda on the sink and gas stove, then wipe with a firmly wrung cloth to remove dirt.
Sterilize
Sprinkle the cutting boards with baking soda and leave for a while, then spray the board with hot water to remove the food odor from the cutting board and sterilize it.
cleaning
Place 1 cup of baking soda in the drain hole and pour hot water to remove unpleasant odors. Plus, baking soda absorbs grease and leaves it clean.
Deodorization in the refrigerator
Put baking soda in a cup and then put it in the fridge, it acts as a deodorant. The soda in the fridge should be changed every two weeks and can be used to clean or wash after use.
Vegetable fruit
Sprinkle vegetables or fruit evenly and wash with water or dissolve 4 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 liter of water to make a solution.
